The single greatest asset of Union Corner Construction is our people.  As a general contractor engaged in the construction of a wide variety of project types, and serving a diverse client base, we acknowledge that the skills and personalities of our staff are paramount in our ability to deliver quality construction services on a consistent basis.  It is our goal to always exceed the expectations of our clients.  In order to meet that goal we have employed the services of people who not only possess the technical ability to efficiently complete a project, but who also possess strong communications and leadership skills.  Union Corner Construction is staffed with individuals who take great pride in their work and their community.

Working together on the construction and renovation of schools, office buildings, medical clinics, retail and distribution facilities, Union Corner Construction has the experience, desire, and technical skills necessary to successfully complete any type of project.

Rick Porter

 Project Executive:

Ø    Rick supervises the day-to-day activity of the company.  Immediately following graduation from Hudson Bay High School, Rick began working in the construction field. His first job was as a carpenter’s helper for a residential housing project.  It was there that he first developed a love for the work, and an appreciation for teamwork.  Rick rapidly worked his way into the commercial side of the business, and progressed through the ranks ”learning the ropes” from a hands-on perspective, developing technical skills on all types of structures and project types as carpenter, foreman, and superintendent.

Ø     In 1988, Rick became a shareholder in Union Corner Construction, and thoroughly learned the estimating, project management, and business skills that shape the company in its present day form.  Having worked his way to ownership from the ground floor, he has gained a unique perspective in terms of problem solving, and insuring that value is maximized in meeting the needs and goals of the client.  In leading the company, Rick sincerely believes that the single most effective way to differentiate Union Corner Construction from its competition is to exceed the clients’ expectations on every project.  He takes pride in the fact that he is always accessible to clients, unlike most of the large firms with whom he competes.

 Extent of Responsibilities:

Ø     Rick Porter is responsible for the overall management of Union Corner Construction personnel dedicated to the effective delivery of construction services. As Project Executive, he will insure that the pre-construction work and estimating tasks conducted during the design development phases are thorough and well organized. In both the pre-construction and construction phases, Rick will maintain a seamless operation between the project management and estimating staff.  He will supervise the administrative and project accounting functions and be involved in the activities of the project manager, estimator and jobsite superintendent during pre-construction and construction phases of the work.

Ø      Clients find a very short route to the president of our company.  Rick does not hide away in the office behind a string of assistants and is not stationed at some out-of-state headquarters office.  At times, you will see him on your site, providing advice and direction in a very hands-on manner. He’s not afraid to lace up his boots and get his hands dirty.
